Football Artificial Pitches - What Grass Carpet Systems can we offer?
Synthetic football pitches for football are made up of several components which create the complete system needed for optimal performance, playability and to ensure they meet the governing bodies such as FIFA and FIFA Quality. Depending on the level of sports pitch you opt for, there are various sub base requirements which not only include the synthetic grass and infill but the layer of blinding and stone, shock pad, geotextile membrane and land drain.
Let's look at this in more detail:
2G Artificial Pitches (San Siro System)
Standards: FIH National & FIH Multi Sports
Pile: 24mm density tufted fibrillated synthetic turf fibres
Infill Requirements: 3mm Sand Infill & 10mm or 12mm Shock Pad
Applications: Recreational Football & MultiSport
3G Artificial Pitches (Maracana 50 and Maracana 60)
Standards: Governing bodies FIBA Quality and FIFA Quality Concept
Pile: Monofilament PE 50mm and 60mm diamond shaped synthetic turf yarn with reinforced latex backing
Infill Requirements: 3mm Sand & Rubber Infill with a 10mm or 12mm Shock Pad
Applications: Professional Football, Rugby and Athletics
Shock Pad Layers for Artificial Turf
FIFA standards and other sports governing bodies, World Rugby and GAA require a shock absorbent pad to be installed under the artificial turf grass carpet for maximum safety and enhanced performance. We can offer both 10mm and 12mm shock pads for our 2G and 3G artificial grass pitches.
Artificial Turf Ancillary Services
We can also offer other necessary services needed to complete your artificial pitch project such as sports netting and fencing, goalmouths and dugout areas, court markings, floodlights and air domes.
Why Artificial Pitches for Football?
Artificial sports pitches are renowned for their superior performance and ability to mimic natural grass play, delivering excellent ball bounce, ball roll and a fluid player experience. Let's look at other reasons why sports clubs opt for artificial grass pitches as opposed to natural turf or hybrid surfaces.
Enhanced Durability and Low Maintenance:
Synthetic turf pitches are renowned for their durability, capable of withstanding heavy usage without succumbing to wear and tear. Unlike natural grass, which requires meticulous upkeep and can easily become damaged, synthetic turf retains its pristine condition even after continuous matches and training sessions. This resilience translates to significant cost savings for clubs, as the need for constant maintenance and reseeding is eliminated.
Consistent Playability:
One of the most notable advantages of synthetic turf is its consistent playability throughout the year. Natural grass pitches are susceptible to weather fluctuations, with rain and extreme temperatures often affecting the surface quality. In contrast, artificial turf provides a reliable playing surface regardless of weather conditions, ensuring a consistent experience with longer playing hours for players and spectators alike.
Environmental Sustainability:
Beyond its performance benefits, artificial turf also boasts environmental advantages. Unlike natural grass, which requires extensive watering and chemical treatments to maintain its lush appearance, synthetic turf conserves water and eliminates the need for harmful pesticides and fertilisers. Additionally, the longevity of artificial turf reduces the carbon footprint associated with regular maintenance, making it a more sustainable choice for football facilities, without any environmental concerns.
